Built more than three hundred years ago, next to a Roman bridge on the banks of the Estorãos River, this pretty watermill has been authentically restored, retaining the old water wheel and grindstone. The visitors’ book bears poignant witness to the many enjoyable holidays guests have spent here.

The exact date of its construction is unknown, but it probably dates back from the late 18th century. In 1868, it was sold to the Count of Bertiandos - ancestor of the current owners. The mill used to function for the grinding of cereals and the sawing of wood - both of which ended in 1965 and 1940 respectively. In 1983, the mill's exterior was renovated, and the interior converted to provide an outstanding and inspiring accommodation offer.
This house encompasses a charming double bedroom with private en suite bathroom, a welcoming living and dining area, a kitchenette and an attractive private garden interspersed with mature shrubs and colourful flowerbeds, and doomed to be the venue for many excellent outdoor moments, under the sun or the stars.
You can take a walk in the nearby area, fish in the river at your doorstep or pay a visit to the traditional market, held twice a month in the ancient town of Ponte de Lima, the oldest of Portugal, with its appreciable historical buildings. A golf course, an equestrian centre and pleasant endless sandy beaches are also at an easily travelling distance. During summer months this area is bustling with local people, that spend their leisure time by the riverside and you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with Portuguese culture and traditions.
Whilst the property enjoys a rural setting, amenities are nevertheless close to hand. The local shop in the small village of Cabração is just about 1 km away from the house, whilst the pretty riverside town of Ponte de Lima is 20 km away and offers all amenities and a wide range of local restaurants. The sandy-dune backed beaches that stretch both north and south of the attractive port of Viana do Castelo can be reached by a 20 minute drive.
